Off with their Mosquito Heads!

Nothing ruins an outdoor evening in the summertime quite like mosquitoes buzzing around and biting everyone. These itchy bumps can easily be avoided if you simply spray your yard area with a mosquito treatment. There are several different types of outdoor mosquito treatments to choose from. Be sure that the repellent you select is specifically labeled for outdoor use.

Residual Barrier Spray
Mix the residual barrier spray with water as directed on the package. Pour the diluted product into a hand pump sprayer.

Spray the insecticide in shaded, damp and cool areas. These are the areas that mosquitoes commonly remain in during the heat of the day. For example, spray underneath a porch, in tall grass underneath trees, along the edges of your property or along a fence line.

Reapply the spray as directed on the package. These sprays can generally last about two weeks.

Aerosol Barrier Spray
Follow instructions on the label with regard to shaking the can of aerosol barrier spray in preparation for use.

Spray the aerosol spray directly on the vegetation you wish to treat. During hot days, spray it in cool, damp, shady areas of your lawn to reduce the mosquito population.

Reapply the aerosol barrier spray at least a few hours and no more than a day before you plan to use your lawn area.

Getting Rid of Mosquitoes Around your Home

Mosquitoes are some of the most annoying creatures in the planet and finding a way to rid your yard and home of them is always a challenge. Using harsh chemicals and dangerous foggers are options that might work for a while but at a potential health risk to the people and animals in the surrounding area. The insect repellant industry market heavily the products containing DEET but these products can make you feel oily and smell unpleasant. I will give you a new suggestion and some steps to take to make it work. This suggestion if done correctly will give good results and you will get rid of mosquitoes around your home.

The first thing you need to do is mow the grass in your lawn. The mosquitoes thrive in high grass. It shades them from the hot sun in the day. Clean up the yard around your home. Make sure there is no place where water can accumulate. If there is any old flower pots or buckets that have water in them the mosquitoes will use this water as a breading ground and it will be much more difficult to rid your yard of these mosquitoes. Trim any plants or bushes so the mosquitoes don't have a place to hide from the sun in the day.

The second thing you should do is go to any local super market like Wal-Mart, Target, or Walgreens and purchases a few bottles of Listerine Mouthwash. Get the large ones. You don't have to get the brand name mouthwash, both Target and Walgreens carry a product that is exactly like Listerine Mouthwash but it is the store brand and that will work also. The best mouthwash to use for mosquitoes is the original one not the flavored one. While you are at the supermarket also buy a good spray bottle. Get one that can spray direct and also mist you will need them both.

The third thing you should do is pour the mouthwash in the spray bottle and begin spraying the area around the house. Make sure you get under the bushes and shrubs. If you plan to have an outdoors gathering spray all around the area people will congregate and also the grass and all the yard. The mosquitoes do not like the smell of the mouthwash and they will stay away. Many people have tried this and it has been said to work. I tried it and I know it works. Don't hesitate to try it. Also the Mouthwash is much less expensive than most all-insect repellants.

Aside from this, a good mosquito repellent band is also a good option. The Repeller Bug Band is a natural insect repellent bug bracelet that is DEET-free and safe for kids. Mosquitoes, including ticks, fleas, gnats, etc., will hate you for wearing this band. It has a formula that offers the best balanced proportion of 11 natural, organic essential oils and repels mosquitoes and fleas, gnats, ticks, ants and more! With this product, you get real protection without the use of dangerous sprays or powders!

Burned Coffee Grounds as a Mosquito Repellent

Reusing coffee grounds offers benefits from fertilizing plants to repelling mosquitoes. Coffee grounds have a smoldering effect after you light them that keeps insects at bay. Also, reusing coffee grounds saves money. Some people use coffee grounds in a compost pile to feed worms and keep other insects away, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Mosquitoes, like other insects, are repelled by the odor created from the coffee grounds burning.

Remove the coffee grounds from your coffeemaker and put them in an aluminum foil pie plate. Place them in a cool, dry area until they are completely dry.

Place the foil plate with the coffee grounds on a level surface, such as a table, outdoors. Make sure no animals or children have access to the area.

Add a few drops of barbecue lighter fluid to the coffee grounds. Do not saturate the grounds--this makes them burn too quickly.

Light the fluid with a long match to avoid getting burned. Then, allow the lighter fluid to burn off until the coffee grounds start burning and smoking.

Smother the fire with a large, damp towel or cloth by placing it over the top of the plate. The coffee grounds should continue to smoke and smolder. The smoke from the coffee grounds repels the mosquitoes.

Indeed, one of the best and effective mosquito prevention technique is by using natural repellents. The Repeller Bug Band is a natural insect repellent bug bracelet that is DEET-free and safe for kids. It contains an all-natural,non-spray & DEET-free formula. This formula offers the best balanced proportion of 11 natural, organic essential oils and repels mosquitoes and fleas, gnats, ticks, ants and more!
